Hands-on Micro:bit Introduction
Event: EDULEARN23
Session time: Tuesday, 4th of July from 10:30 to 12:00 (UTC+02:00)
Session type: INTERACTIVE
Room: Interactive
Session chair: Dale Reed. University of Illinois Chicago (UNITED STATES)

Come and explore for yourself what a micro:bit can do! In this supportive hands-on session you will experiment with lights, buttons, sound, motion, and radio communication on a micro:bit.

Micro:bits are half the size of a credit card and cost only 17 euros. They use block-based, Python, or JavaScript programming and are used by millions of people around the world, in 32 languages. For students for whom manipulating or touching objects significantly helps learning, using micro:bits in tangible experiments makes it easier for those students to learn to code.

At one end of the spectrum micro:bits are accessible to students who have just learned to read, while at the other end they can be used at the university level to gather real-world data in complex experiments.

Micro:bits and connector cables will be provided for use during the session for 40 participants. You must bring your own charged Mac or PC laptop, with an available USB port or adapter.

This session will be led by Dale Reed and Diana M. Diaz Herrera (University of Illinois at Chicago, USA).
