What are the implications of ChatGPT for Higher Education – a knowledge café conversation

Come and join us for an inspiring and informal conversation over a cup of tea/coffee about in the ‘Knowledge Café’ which aims to bring people together to share their perceptions, experiences, fears, concerns, about ChatGPT’s use in Higher Education, in a very informal and conversational way.

Professor Isabella Venter, a Computer Science professor at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa, will open the Café as the lightning speaker, and share her thoughts on the topic of generative AI and ChatGPT. Attendees will then be given an opportunity to have small-group, informal conversations with peers sharing their own experiences and learning from each other’s experiences, in a round robin type fashion.

The Knowledge café will enable a very important discussion on the current topic of ChatGPT, focusing on the challenges, opportunities, fears, and uses of it in higher education. The Knowledge café will be facilitated by Dr Desireé Cranfield (Swansea University), and Mr André Daniels (University of the Western Cape)

About the Speaker and facilitators:

Professor Isabella Venter is a Computer Science emeritus professor at the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa and is the chair of the Telkom/Aria Technology Africa Centre of Excellence.

Dr Desireé Cranfield is an Information Systems / digital business senior lecturer and deputy programme director for the Business Masters’ PG programme at Swansea University, Wales, UK.

Mr André Daniels is the Digital Media Coordinator at the University of the Western Cape’s e-Learning centre in Cape Town, South Africa, and is studying towards a PhD in Media Technology.
