Session type: INTERACTIVE

COVID-19 made us rapidly transform our everyday educational working methods. The availability of digital tools has given a huge impulse to the way we (can) educate. Since the world is slowly getting back to normal, we are required to rethink the added value of physical education. Three passionate lecturers in the field of pedagogy and education - Ralf Ghijsen, Dennis Barten and Sylvia Sanders - are on a mission to create awareness amongst teachers about the power of offline teaching and its inseparable bound with curiosity and motivation.

In this workshop three main subjects will be addressed:

Step 1: ‘Magic experience’
Ralf will show you - in a creative performance - how to use tips and tricks from the world of magicians that you can directly apply in your classroom to achieve awareness, focus and curiosity.

Step 2: ‘Active presence’
Now that we’ve learned how to get the attention from our students it is time to put emphasis on the core of education: the teacher. In this session Sylvia Sanders will let you practice with the strength of non-verbal communication and explain how this contributes to a good teaching climate in order to achieve your learning goals.

Step 3: ‘Storytelling’
Nor step 1, nor step 2 would be effective without a good storyline. Storytelling has proved to be an adequate way of sharing knowledge and/or skills with your students. Dennis Barten will take you on a journey where you will experience not only the fundamental elements of creating a story, but also the fun of sharing a tale or two.
