It cannot be denied that Internet is a powerful tool that allows a better communication between students and instructors. But are students prepared to use it in any subject? are there any situations where students prefer to use a traditional method?

This paper presents a study carried out with students from Business Studies. We prepared a survey where students were asked several questions regarding the use of Internet in different areas: class notes download, search of information, blogs, chats, e-mail, ...

The individuals were chosen randomly among the population and assigned to three different sets.
The first set of students was given the survey using the traditional approach: paper.
The second set of students answered the survey using the Web, but the survey was in one page with no indication about how much time would it take to answer the questions (only the scroll bar would give an idea about it.
The third of students answered the survey using a Web application, the questions were in different screens and at any time the individual knew the percentage of the survey that has been fulfilled.

It should be noted that all the students answered the same questions, what it was different was the media: paper or web.

Moreover, both web applications were developed by ourselves and all the answers were automatically stored in a database for post processing.

Our conclusions are of two types. First, we have statistical information about the use of Internet by our students.Second, we have some conclusions about the preferred media for answering surveys.
