Education and science in the context of globalization play a key role in the development and progress of society. Globalization, as a process of integration of different cultures and economies, presents new challenges and opportunities for education and science.
One of the main effects of globalization is the increased mobility of people, ideas and capital, which increases the need for quality education and scientific development. Global economic changes also require educational and research institutions to be flexible and adaptable so that they can deal effectively with change and provide high-quality education and research.
Globalization also presents new opportunities for education and science. Thanks to global communication and collaboration, scientific research can become more interdisciplinary and enriched with experience and knowledge from different parts of the world.
One of the main advantages of globalization for education and science is access to global knowledge and experience. Scientists and students can exchange knowledge and experience through the Internet, conferences, seminars and other events.
The objectives of this study are:
- Explaining and justifying certain phenomena related to the term "globalization", this being a common one and overused more and more often in the mass media, publications and political and scientific debates;
- We analyze the nature of the effects produced by the globalization process in the educational system and that related to scientific research;
- In our study we will demonstrate that globalization is a complex and ambiguous phenomenon, and the advantages and disadvantages associated with it depend on how economies, cultures, educational institutions are affected.
The study methodology includes the following stages:
- The effects of globalization on the educational and research system;
- The emergence and development of the global market of education services;
- Development of information and communication technologies.
The results of our study show us that:
In the conditions of the development of a global labor market, it is certain that current graduates are destined to work in a world where the borders of national economies are becoming more and more conventional, therefore their success on the labor market can only be ensured by a educational system adapted to the globalization process.
Conclusions:
Globalization is one of the major forces influencing the development of national policies in the field of education. Among the main causes that accelerated the processes of globalization in higher education are: the increase in exchanges on the global education market, developments on the global labor market, changes produced under the impact of information and communication technologies, etc. The process of globalization has not only transformed the way in which educational policies are developed, implemented and evaluated at the national level, but has also brought higher education institutions in front of challenges for which they must find adequate managerial, financial and logistical solutions.
