Session time: Monday, 3rd of July from 17:15 to 18:45 (UTC+02:00)
Session type: INTERACTIVE
Room: Interactive
Session chair: Wendy Gorton. Educational consultant (UNITED STATES)

In this hands-on learning lab, come explore the power of game-based learning with students and adults. We'll all dive into a multiplayer Minecraft realm where we can collaboratively build a project together, and then unpack all of the skills used within (creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking, all 21st century skills necessary and often underutilized in traditional classrooms). We'll extend into the growing field of Esports, and dive into current research on how teaching with game-based learning affects motivation and performance. No prior gaming experience required! We'll also explore the many ways this can be applied to teaching, and explore other game-based learning platforms, including, and comparing it to gamification, such as Kahoot's quizzes and ABC Mouse.
