Abstract:
Among the important competencies that a graduate of a technical university is to possess are graphic and information competencies. These competencies are formed throughout the entire period of undergraduate studies. The acquisition of these competencies is facilitated by the use of visualization tools of mathematical concepts and operations when studying a course of higher mathematics. The graphical interpretation of mathematical concepts contributes to a better assimilation of the course of higher mathematics and the formation of analytical thinking of future engineers. The visualization tools used in the course of higher mathematics analyzed in this study are understood as software products that make it possible to build graphs of analytically specified or tabulated functions on a plane or in three-dimensional space. The study provides an overview of modern software products and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of these visualization tools. We have identified the cloud services of the Runet (the Russian segment of the Internet) that are the most convenient for the visualization of educational tasks, which we recommend to our students for use. Sections within the course of higher mathematics have been analyzed by us for the presence of visualization objects, and in each section a number of tasks have been highlighted, the solution of which allows us to make graphical visualization. In order to motivate students to use visualization tools while solving educational tasks, we create such special tasks that the students are to accompany with graphics. We show the solution to some tasks and accompany them with a graphical interpretation, and also recommend the students to apply the services that are better used to visualize the solution to these tasks.
