A model of the Virtue Guiding Civil Society in undergraduates at private university was developed and validated, based on the concepts of Thai society’s academics (Ruanjindawalai, 2005). The sample consisted of 900 undergraduates at private university in Bangkok metropolis and vicinity, Thailand in academic year 2008. The research instrument was the scale of the virtue guiding civil society. Data were analyzed by means of exploratory factor analysis with principal component extraction and varimax rotation using SPSS. The model was validated by using second order confirmatory factor analysis through LISREL version 8.51.
The research results indicated that the virtue guiding civil society of undergraduates at private university consisted of nine factors. In order of factor loading, they were: sticking to truth-based, good role model, generosity, public mind, gratitude, trust, knowledge of capitalism, honesty, and courage to argue. The validation of the model was measured by the following values: Chi-square2 = 247.20, df =391, p = 1.00, GFI =0.99, AGFI = 0.97, CFI = 1.00, SRMR =0.019, and RMSEA = 0.00.
