In 1999, Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts started attending and being a part of a collaborative ceramic art event “The International Ceramic Symposium and Art Exchange Program” of whose participant institiutions are pioneer higher education in the field of art.

This organisation has been held as an art symposium since 1996 by the participation of collaborator leaders Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music from Japan, Tacoma Community College from USA, Seoul National University, Tsinghua University China.

This organisation became a foundation under the name International Society For Ceramics Art Education and Exchange in 2005 (the main branch in Japan).

The ceramic students and lecturers, distinguished ceramic artists- professional experts of their field, meet every year in one of the associated member university in China, USA, Korea, Turkey, Japan, or a new member or guest country such as The Surrey Institute of Art and Design in England, Kenyatta University in Kenya.

The program consists of conferences workshops, exhibition, study trips (museums, historical regions, ceramic studios, manufactories) which brings cultural interaction, as well as technical and artistic connections between each universities’ members.

The aim of the organisation is to exchange of contemporary art education systems, sharing new aspect of art education, having chance to see a global approach of learning-practice models while conceiving occupational training. This is an opportunity to think of, talk and debate on different techniques, cultures and perceptions of art in terms of having private ceramic art woks exhibited together.

The represantative board of the society is composed of:
Prof. Fumio SHIMADA Prof. Zehra ÇOBANLI and Prof. Zeng NING, Prof. Richard MAHAFFEY from the collaborator leader universities.

Anadolu University cordially hosted the 4th and the 6th International Ceramic Symposium and Art Exchange Program at Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Ceramic Department in Eskisehir-TURKEY

This provided a big progress to the ceramic department and professional teaching staff to see the art perception of different countries, sharing ideas, projects new techniques.

This renovating International Organization will grow each year by the attandence and cooperation of more high education institiutes of different countries where the ceramic students and lecturer ceramic artists professional experts of their field meet, and will become very worthwhile for the ceramic culture to extend to wide crowds and contribute to the world peace by building and strengthening the friendships by the mediation of art.
