HOW DO THE ENGLISH INSTRUCTORS AT ANADOLU UNIVERSITY CHECK IF BEGINNER LEVEL STUDENTS HAVE UNDERSTOOD AND “LEARNT” THE GRAMMAR?

The aim of this study is to answer the following question: How do the English instructors at Anadolu University check if beginner level students have understood and “learnt” the grammar? As we know, we have been investing a lot of energy while we are trying to establish the best way to teach grammar and the outcomes of our efforts are very important. From this perspective, checking understanding depends on the teachers' ability to understand their own contexts and to use this understanding to make instructional choices such as asking the right questions or we can say concept questions about the structures that students have learnt. In this paper, I carried out my survey with the helps of grammar instructors at beginner level.
