The aim of the project that is at present in progress, is to establish a research incubator that will empower early career researchers to conduct scientific research and publish their work in accredited journals and other accredited publications. The selected candidates are exposed to a high intensity training and monitoring program that are presented by a team of international research specialists.
Six early career researchers have been accommodated in the incubator where they are at present being challenged and tutored by the high profile panel of experts. One incubator program last between 8 and 10 weeks.
The incubator offers a high-intensity research environment where candidates are receiving detailed instruction in the processes that lead from research design to securing publication.
The candidates are working on individual as well as team projects in order to sharpen their skills. The team projects are of a multi-disciplinary nature that enable the candidates to share in multiple viewpoints.
The project focuses on overcoming the barriers that early career researchers experience towards getting published in scientific publications. In the process the candidates are receiving hands-on training in the design and implementation of publishable scientific projects.
The project also addresses the issue of feeding research back into the curricula. This dimension forms part of the selection criteria for research projects to be included in the incubator program. All the projects that are included in the incubator program have to be linked to established Monash research platforms.
The major advantage of this project is that it prepares a small group of researchers in a structured manner to publish on a regular basis in accredited publications. Furthermore, the program offers sustainability in that it can be adapted and improved for future groups.
