New technologies of information and communication have been used in the teaching practice by posting on the Internet a digital learning material which can help students of the subject Chemical Technology. We wanted to create a situation in which students are not guided step by step but in which they have much more freedom and have no choice but to consider the general approach they are following. This is in line with the cognitive apprenticeship approach in which students are guided to solve an authentic problem. Specifically it has been created a main web page where all the materials (notes, diagrams, solved and proposed problems, practices, self-assessment tests and proposed activities) have been hung on. It’s been created a students database too in order to control the access and to promote a better student-teacher relationship. Developing this material was intended to complement and optimize teaching and tutoring.
The objectives were:
• Realization of the main web page, where all the materials will be hung. The development of this stage required that all the following phases were fixed.
• Development of educational material itself: notes, theory diagrams, solved and proposed problems, practices, self-assessment tests and proposed activities.
• Creation of a registered students database with the purpose of make the authorization easier, and the student-teacher contact better.
The general opinion of the students that used this material in university teaching was assessed by means of evaluation forms. These revealed that students gave the website a high overall rating as well as they recommend its use in other subjects.
