The Bologna Declaration is a pledge by 29 countries to reform the structures of their higher education systems in a convergent way. This declaration marks a turning point in the development of the new European Higher Education Area and it requires an important challenge for all European Universities in order to implement the new studies plans successfully before 2010.
The elaboration of docent guides for all subjects is a very useful tool to ensure a correct implementation of the new education. Consequently, the aim of this communication is the presentation of a docent guide adapted to the new European Higher Education Area of the subject “Introduction to Experimentation in Analytical Chemistry” (third course of Chemistry degree at the University of Balearic Islands).
The docent guide is divided in 6 main parts:
- Descriptive data of the subject: general information, requirements, lecturers and tutoring hours of the subject.
- Sense of the subject in the Chemistry degree: area of knowledge, connection with the others subjects of the same area, interest of the subject in the future profession.
- Objectives and competences of the subject: objectives and competences related to the knowledge, skills, teaching tools and attitudes to acquire in the subject.
- Contents of the subject: presentation, distribution and sense of the theoretical and practical contents.
- ECTS credits and credit allocation. Structure of work in ECTS credits.
- Evaluation criteria. Two itineraries of evaluation are exposed and the student can choose one of them at the beginning of the course.
