The paper explores the role of the computer software and simulation tools in growing research and education. We have tried to explain the phases of development in research in the past decade. The paper is resulted from the research aimed at introducing computer software and simulators as major methodological approach for enhancing the research and education. The various reasons were explained first; we discussed various uses of simulation tools and computer software in research, current market for these tools, commercial software for teaching. Simulation environments offer an advanced technology and a powerful methodology to be extensively used in teaching. The main ingredient of the innovative teaching methodology ie teaching with advance simulation tools is a comprehensive use of computer operated simulation tools in the teaching processes. This helps in redistribution of the teaching load in the classroom where the time can be saved which is required for preparing and delivering the presentations as visual demonstrations are much powerful than the simple teaching methods. The detailed and practical example are shown in this environment which in turned into additional teaching time and learning experiences.
Modelling may be defined as the process of application of the fundamental knowledge or experience to simulate or to describe the performance of the real systems to achieve certain goals. Modelling and simulation are integral part of the organisation, synthesis and rationalisation of the observation and measurement in any research process. We can also say that the goals of the modelling and simulation are research oriented and management oriented. The domain includes the educators, professional, business organisations, researchers which use them in one or another form. Modelling helps in achieving the most rational and logical approach through various techniques such as physical and empirical.
Benefits of Simulation with Research and Education perspective
Major benefits of the simulation process can be collected as cost effective infrastructure creation, reproducibility of the results to attain the precision, makes the tedious processes much easier to understand. The benefits of developing such techniques is 24x7 teacher is available to the students, powerful technique of learning as human brain perceive visual learning more quickly, flawless learning can be developed.
Current market trends shows that market is flooded with the simulation and modelling tools and so as the professionals and researchers are using them for productive analysis, designing and synthetics of the products. Many research oriented fields such as vision and image processing, security and network analysis are filled with latest modelling and simulation tools the reason behind this is cost effective infrastructure can be realised through them. Research particularly wants the ideas to be put forward should be implemented practically in any form and this activity can be easily performed through simulation and modelling processes.
It is very important that we should evaluate both side of the appliance which we are going to use which says pros and cons of the simulation and process. Major applicability area of the simulation in research is reproducibility of the results which means that model produces the same result every time as if it is showing different result every time then it is not suitable for the research activities.
