The ability for global learning to take place in real-time has become a common alternative for individuals participating in various forms of knowledge - based education. In the last year an innovative synchronous coaching program, The Columbia Coaching Certification Program at Teachers College in partnership with Columbia University has been developing a global learning model allowing participants from around the world to partake in an academic program while maintaining corporate responsibilities.
As global connectivity continues to evolve, the initial digital setup of the program for individual use appeared to function well. However attention was required for the challenge to establish a stable weekly continent – to – continent Internet connection for participants with ever changing schedules so that the learning process could occur.
The goals of the program were to establish a world-class coaching program while maintaining the dynamics of continental technology. To establish operational technology guidelines that demonstrate the benefits and challenges associated with facilitating and managing an international online delivery system that considered native culture and social factors.
This presentation will outline the logistical procedure and practical process that was required in order to determine effective connectivity issues based on local and country Internet protocols, techniques for synchronous simulcast using the latest web conference technologies, and determining the value for successful implementation. Concluding with the operational factors that were associated with local culture and social requirements to maintain consistent learning pedagogy.
