ICT SKILLS REQUIREMENT AMONG MALAYSIAN GRADUATES IN TODAY’S JOB MARKET

The rapid advancements and diffusions of technology innovations especially in the field of information, communication technology (ICT) and its wide application in the business sector have prompted the necessity to engage graduates with the required skills. Technological changes are often characterized by skill-based nature that typified changes in the division of labor and the shifting of demand towards employees with higher levels of education and skills in ICT. To what extent do the industries in Malaysia yield to this occurrence and how ICT-savvy is the nation’s workforce? This paper looks into the present state-of-affairs through the conduct of a survey on the samples selected amongst the public listed companies. The paper will also look into the degree of ICT adoption by these industries, leading to the demand for skilled graduates in ICT and the adequacy as well as the compliance of the workforce in meeting the requirements.
