STATISTICAL EVALUATION OF THE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION

The paper presents the results of a sample survey regarding the perception and stimuli on creativity and innovation among students.
The survey was conducted within a research project on the theme of innovation and demand for creative employees, developed together with Universita degli Studi di Perugia, Italy. In the observed sample there were selected students from three higher education institutions: the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration from the Al.I.Cuza University of Iasi, the Academy of Economic Studies from Bucharest and the Gh. Asachi Technical University of Iasi. For the analysis of the responses to the questionnaire we used the Multiple Response Analysis and the Multiple Correspondence Analysis. The data treatment was done with the SPSS software.
In their responses, the students assessed on a scale from 1 (the least important) to 5 (the most important) the characteristics of their own personality in respect of innovation, their capacities to solve a new problem, as well as the characteristics they consider definitory for a creative person.
Furthermore, the survey results show that the following conjunctural situations play an important role in the stimulation of one’s creativity: the presence of persons with different knowledge and skills, the high competitivity among persons, the continuous change of the environment, the access to material resources. From the students’ opinion it resulted that the formation environment from the point of view of geographic position, as well the economic and social status have also impact on the stimulation of the creativity.
The research results suggest ways and conditions for the development of creativity and innovation.
