The European Chemistry Thematic Network has set up a new working group dedicated to “Linking Chemistry and Chemical Technology”. The philosophy behind the formation of this group is that of bridging the ever widening gap between chemists, chemical technologists and chemical engineers.

The principal aim of the group is the identification of best practices in the creation of higher education study programmes combining chemistry and chemical technology. Other aspects concerning the interface between chemistry and chemical technology are also being considered.

In this communication we will present our work on setting up guidelines for a framework for study plans in first and second cycle chemical degrees with the objective of increasing chemical technology content.
