Competences represent a dynamic combination of knowledge, understanding, skills and abilities. Fostering competences is the object of educational programmes (according to the Tuning project)1. Competences can be divided into: specific and generic (instrumental, interpersonal and systemic). The need to integrate the acquisition of these competences in the teaching/learning process besides the need to incorporate technology into the classroom makes us design a Webquest- WQ are inquiry-based activities in which learners interact with information coming primarily from resources on the Internet (Dodge, 1995) with the general intention of developing the generic competences and with the specific purpose of practising the English grammar.
In this paper, we have designed a Webquest with a double aim: on the one hand, to analyse which generic competences interact in the activities proposed in the Webquest (these activities are directly related to the practise and improvement of the level of English in some specific points of grammar of our students). On the other hand, to show that the use of a Webquest model helps our students to successfully develop these educational generic competences.
