The present communication shows the experimental results of applying a Pilot Plan for the adaptation of the first year of the Chemistry degree to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) during the courses 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. We analyze the teaching guides of the different subjects, in which we include the programs constructed in thematic blocks and lessons, and we distribute the credits ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) in activities of grand group, seminar-laboratory, tutorial ECTS (European System of Credit transfer), and the student’s independent work. In addition, in the teaching guides we reflect the objectives, educational methodology, evaluation criteria and a student’s guide where it is done an estimation of the daily work to developing by the students.
During the development of the experience we have been realized modifications of the teaching guides, relatives to the tutorial ECTS, the estimation of the student’s and teacher’s independent work, the adjustment of the activities proposed in the student’s guide, and the evaluation criteria of the subjects.
In summary, there is a degree of satisfaction on the part of the teachers and of the students, on the basis of the improvement observed in the qualifications (with regard to previous years where the traditional methodology was applied) and to the satisfaction surveys of the students and teachers. Likewise, it is to emphasize as strong points of this new methodology of education - learning: an improvement of the coordination of activities proposed the students, a major presence of the students in the classrooms, an increase of the work in group, and an important reinforcement of the educational formation by means of the tutorial ECTS.
