The Putzger Historical Atlas was published for the very first time in 1877. The atlas was used in schools in the German Empire and in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and even after the WW I. During his use in Germany between 1933 and 1945 the Putzger did not only deal with a strong ideologysation in a national socialist sense but the overall message of an historical atlas has been changed seriously. How this could be achieved by only a small alterations will be demonstrated when comparing the last Putzger-Atlas before the "restoration" - the 50th edition of 1931 and the 9th edition "upon the restoration of the Reich" in 1942.
