The PNG University of Technology (PAPUA NEW GUINEA)
Papua New Guinea possesses abundant natural resources. Naturally therefore technical manpower development for efficient exploitation of such natural resources is a top priority in PNG. In this context the role of the PNG UNITECH is crucial, since this is the only higher technological university in Papua New Guinea. It is therefore essential that this four decade old university not only expands the technical educational opportunities but also considerately upgrades the scope of postgraduate studies and research. The present authors wish to share their experience in development of technological education in India & Other Industrialized countries with the students, teachers and educational planners in Papua New Guinea.
The Government of New Guinea in collaboration and with Memorandum of Understanding with universities of the countries like India, Japan, Australia should start the initiative to develop local manpower to support the growing industries and the infrastructures. Particular need immediate and immediate future is in the field of Mining, Energy and related industries. Various Mining and Energy companies should voluntarily take part in this necessary development of technical personnel.
