The instability of the labor market, or the existing maladjustment between the educational and the productive systems, that are rapidly evolving with high technological changes. So it makes necessary that the young people plans his career and specially the formative itinerary to follow. The transition from a learning period to the labor market presents a problem of it’s own in each level of the educational system. In the case of the technical studies (FP) is an educative level that has been evolving throughout the time, although it goes on slower than the FP of the most developed nations of Europe.
At the face of this situation, the main goal of this investigation it’s to analyze the way in which the young person who studies technical studies configures his professional profile. Concretely, to investigate the internal factors (characteristic of the young people) and external factors (incentives and barriers) that influence in the decisions that the student takes to continue his formation. So, it is to know what factors have influenced in the young student for the choice of their studies, and meanwhile they are learning this studies, to find out how influence them the following items: the perceptions that these studies teach them, the vocational guidance and the personal characteristics of the student about their expectations from incorporation to the labor market or about wanting to continue their educative horizon.
Finally, to determine what are the incentives stimulate them to choose between to begin or to continue the specific technical studies and too what are the barriers that the young person finds to continue the specific technical studies.
In order to reach this objective, the design used in the present investigation has been the previous exploratory study, by means of a revision of literature has taken place a diagnosis of the technical studies in Spain, analyzing its historical evolution and its present situation. It followed by correlational study, through a survey, with exposition of hypothesis about behavioral and relations between the used variables. The surveys were given to the students from technical studies from the learning institutes partially financed by the state in the Madrid Autonomic Community. The survey was administered in April, May and June 2005. This study, with all the results that have been obtained, will help to contribute to the positive evolution of the FP (Technical Studies), being consistent with the limitations of the present research.
