The education throughout history has been in continuous evolution, have developed new teaching methods based on innovative teaching models that focus on motivation and adoption of these students, through the use of ICTs. That evolution has not been easy, even today are many difficulties and disadvantages in all educational models in the world. The model used in Colombia which is based on four levels of education; primary, elementary, middle and higher, is no exception to these problems.

For some time the government and the Colombian educational community are proposing and promoting a change in the articulation of education, an approach of secondary education to higher education. And the University Distrital Francisco José de Caldas University has not been indifferent to this change, for this reason to begin, the University has implemented a series of agreements with some schools of Bogotá, during this work has found several problems, specifically, communication between both management and academics entities, the both University and the Schools. Another factor that hinders the "integration" between middle education and higher education is the lack of libraries, appropriate laboratories, and any other materials that strengthen and reaffirm the knowledge and skills acquired in class.

To cope this situation, we have been working at the development of an educational and knowledge portal so as to support the interaction between one of the school involved in the agreement and the Technological Faculty of University. The project called: "Prototype education and knowledge portal so as to strengthen the integration of Middle education and Technology education". The portal has diverse subsystems: Interaction subsystem where the user find tools like: forums, chats, wikis and weblogs. Links subsystem where the users have access to interesting sites. Communications subsystem in which the users of the portal could make reports and to be informed about different news and events about the university or the school. And storage subsystem that can management different documents generated by the members of the portal.

In addition through the portal users can access the Moodle platform, find an OVA’s repository and a generator of communities.
