Growth of population especially in developing countries and limitation in land and water, compel man to find new technologies and create innovations to enhance quantity and quality of agricultural productions. Therefore, food security is one of the most concerns that each society is confronted with. Application of modern biotechnology is one of the new approaches that could increase agricultural production by using of the least production inputs. Hence, a large number of specialists believe extending of new biotechnology methods and techniques could be a desirable answer to those solicitudes about starvation and poverty which threat humanity in this century. But there is another question which this study attempt to find appropriate answers to it: How can agricultural extension as an educational and training institute could transfer and recommend that innovation to small and resource poor- farmers who constitute the main group in Iranian agricultural producers? Regardless of some threats of new biotechnology application toward emerge of dangerous compound micro-organisms, one of the important threat could be increasing of social gap and inequality between those who access to biotechnology and those who not. It intrinsically can lead to poverty and deprivation. Maybe no another factor such as education and giving awareness could change the trend of biotechnology adoption and application toward small scale farmers. Mechanism of such modification has been discussed and explained in details in this article and some executive recommendations have been expressed in order to be applied by agricultural extension agents at the end of the article.
