“Car Ecology” is a Curriculum Development (CD) Project, financed by the European Union, in which eight European Universities from seven different countries, have formed a partnership in order to develop materials for a Master’s course focusing on new technological and ecological standards in automotive engineering. The Course consists of 6 Modules which can be followed in up to 3 different universities, thus the Project integrates both student and staff mobility. After giving some background to the Project and briefly describing the contents and involvement of the automotive industry, we explore some specific issues arising from our collaboration; namely, how we have dealt with multi-cultural diversity, and the need to nurture a network such as this one. Finally, we focus on what we believe to be an innovative approach to the development of alternative teaching methodologies to the standard lecture, and their incorporation into the course materials.
