The onset of IT technologies in tutoring at Faculty of Sports Studies is dated to the period of 2004-2006. Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports supported such activity at Masaryk University through development and transformation projects.
As a pilot E-learning course at Faculty of Sports Studies and one of the first courses at Masaryk University was prepared course -Prescription of Physic Activities in Diseases and Disabilities.
This course is taught as a compulsory for students attending study program physic education and sport (teachers of physic education, trainers, managers.....). Study covers 1 hour of theoretical lecture and 2 hours of practical tutorial. The course is terminated by practical exam and theoretical written test.
The goal of this project was prepare tutorial aid for all kinds of study but especially for extramurual students.
The whole course was divided into 13 chapters (each chapter equals to one week in term). This logical organization corresponds with created interactive syllabus.
Each chapter has following structure: Goal of lecture, introduction to the study, study time, study article, list of used and advised literature, video material-examples of therapeutical exercises, testing questions, theme of essay, discussion forum.
Technical parameters:
Because of troublefree start-up on arbitrary operating system and individual PC setting of user there was more than one format of each part of lecture. Study article is proposed in format Microsoft Word and PDF. Video materials are available in three formats: MPEG2, DivX, and WMV. Pictures are shown through html presentation in format JPEG.
Interactive application “Anatomical map-Muscles” is written in JavaScript.
The whole interactive syllabus was located in to the "IS" - Information System (the internal web application for students and employees of Masaryk University).
Quantification of course
There were practically in all scientific sources defined high initiative costs for creation of course. But because of lack of exact information it was hard to quantify them. Authors show some examples of quantification:
Pictures:
It was totally taken 575 and used 62 snaps.
Video:
The total time of taken video materials was 60 hours. After edition there was used 1, 5 hours for course.
Upon the whole material in electronic version take 805 MB and 340 GB of video of space on hard disk. According to the project plan preparations of e-learning course have taken 128 working days. There were 5 persons working on project for 3 months.
