The rapid use of digital technologies has highlighted the importance of safeguarding children’s personal data. However, research on effective educational approaches remains limited yet. Raising children’s awareness of GDPR is essential to promote responsible digital behaviour and protect their privacy in the evolving digital landscape. This study presents a literature review on children-oriented approaches to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), aiming to map the current state of research and identify key trends, challenges, and gaps in the field. A systematic search was conducted in academic databases, including Scopus, IEEExplore, and ACM following the PRISMA methodology and using predefined keywords related to education, children, and GDPR. Also, inclusion and exclusion criteria were defined to ensure relevance and methodological consistency. Despite its importance, the relation of children’s education and data protection remains an undiscovered field, highlighting the need for further research on this critical topic. Addressing these gaps a more effective, child-centered GDPR education can be implemented, fostering a culture of privacy awareness from an early age.
