Supervision and control of modern industrial plants is carried out using a large number of time-varying electrical signals. In order to train electrical engineering students for future work in such industrial plants, it is desirable to familiarize them with the recording and processing of electrical signals using multifunctional real-time data acquisition devices and with the limitations that appear during these procedures.
In this article, a real-time data acquisition MicroDAQ E2000 device programmed in the Scilab programming language is used to demonstrate some of the limitations that occur when data acquisition devices are used to process electrical signals. Several illustrative examples were presented and analyzed in which some limitations of such signal processing manifested themselves in the form of distortion of the processed signal.
By trying the mentioned examples during laboratory exercises, students can better understand some limitations that appear when processing electrical signals using multifunctional real-time data acquisition devices.
