Introduction:
In a context of uncertainty and rapid paradigm shifts, economic and social growth increasingly relies on entrepreneurial attitudes. The Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ), developed by Liñán and Chen (2009), and later validated for the Portuguese context by Oliveira et al. (2016), has been widely used to assess entrepreneurial intention among higher education students. This study aims to present the confirmatory factor analysis of the Portuguese version of the EIQ applied to students from Polytechnic University of Porto (P.PORTO).
Methodology:
This study is observational, cross-sectional, and analytical. The target population comprises students from all academic levels at P. PORTO, enrolled during the 2024–2025 academic year. A representative and randomly selected sample of 337 students was included in the analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to evaluate the factorial structure of the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ), using structural equation modelling within the context of P. PORTO students. Model fit was assessed using the Comparative Fit Index (CFI), the Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI), and the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA).
Results and Discussion:
The results of the confirmatory analysis show that the model demonstrates a good overall fit, with CFI = 0.95, TLI = 0.93, and RMSEA = 0.095. These findings confirm the factorial structure of the (EIQ) proposed by Oliveira et al. (2016) within the context of students from P. Porto, thereby providing further evidence for the validity of this instrument.
Conclusion:
The results of this study provide additional evidence supporting the validity of the factorial structure of the EIQ.
