Digital skills are becoming a key prerequisite for employability in the contemporary real estate market, which is undergoing dynamic transformation due to technological advancement, automation, and the emergence of so-called proptech solutions. This article aims to map the current state of knowledge regarding the digital competencies required of professionals in the real estate sector, identify their most frequent representation in research studies, and confront these findings with the current demands of the labor market.
Methodologically, the article is based on an analysis of academic and scientific publications indexed in the Web of Science database for the period 2010–2024. Four thematic search strategies were applied, combining terms such as “digital skills,” “digital competencies,” “technology adoption,” “proptech,” and “real estate market.” The results revealed a very low occurrence of direct empirical studies focused on digital skills in the real estate domain, indicating a significant gap in the scientific discourse.
Through a complementary analysis of labor market demands, professional literature, and technological trends, key digital competencies were identified. These include: the use of digital property management platforms, application of data tools for valuation, foundations of digital marketing, familiarity with CRM systems, and the ability to create multimedia property presentations (VR/3D).
The findings of this study serve as a basis for designing the curriculum of specialized courses within the upcoming professionally oriented bachelor’s study program Real Estate Management. The objective is to ensure that graduates are equipped with digital competencies aligned with both current and future needs of the real estate sector.
