The integration of folklore into the educational context is fundamental for the preservation of cultural identity and for the holistic development of students in an increasingly globalized world. This study investigated the multifaceted role of folklore in Brazilian education, analyzing its potential for cultural revitalization, the promotion of interdisciplinarity, and pedagogical innovation. The research was based on a qualitative approach, including documentary analysis of educational policies and scientific literature, as well as investigations into the experiences and perceptions of students and teachers, examining how folklore is currently understood and implemented across various educational levels. The results revealed a significant disconnection between students' rich informal engagement with folklore in their daily and family lives and its limited formal recognition and systematic integration into school curricula. For example, while studies indicate that children have deep experiences with folk music and traditional games, teachers frequently report a lack of specific training and adequate resources to effectively incorporate these cultural elements. A comprehensive mapping of scientific publications on folklore in Brazilian education further highlighted this gap, showing that, despite its inherent relevance, research focused specifically on its application in basic education contexts remains notably scarce. To address this issue, this research emphasized the transdisciplinary nature of folklore, demonstrating its robust capacity to establish significant connections among various fields of knowledge, from music and literature to history, social studies, and even environmental education. Furthermore, we present innovative approaches to disseminate research findings and support practical pedagogical application. This includes the development of accessible educational products, such as e-books and online courses, all designed to equip educators with practical tools and theoretical understanding. In conclusion, despite persistent challenges in formal integration and teacher preparation, folklore presents an immense and unexplored potential to enrich contemporary education. This work advocates for the development of more cohesive policies and collaborative initiatives to ensure that Brazil's vibrant cultural heritage is not only preserved but actively leveraged as a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and pedagogically innovative resource for learning, thereby promoting cultural resilience and fostering a more relevant and engaging educational experience.
