In the current, but especially future, situation of accentuated and accelerated digitalization, to form socially active, empathetic, but also responsible citizens in society, social education can have an essential role in the training of young people. It is already known that the development of digital technologies, in addition to the direct benefits obtained through their use, profoundly influences the way adolescents / young people interact, communicate and relate to social values. The paper aims to analyze the way to add to social education the digital and cross-border dimensions, for the development of skills related to “digital social life” (skills such as online collaboration, digital empathy, virtual identity management, combating cyber-bullying, and increasing civic behavior and participation in the virtual / online space). It also aims to analyze the integration of elements of socio-digital education (for the development of socio-emotional skills and abilities necessary to adapt to a constantly changing society) based on the responses of students from 3 universities: one in Costa Rica and two in Romania.
