Continuous professional development is the enhancement of teachers’ skills, academic qualifications and the up skilling of educators’ knowledge and competencies. Imperative to this is the continuous professional development (CPD) of educators in information and communication technology (ICT), to improve their digital skills and to keep them abreast with the technological demands that exist among the learners. The purpose of this paper was to explore how the CPD of educators in ICT informs the achievement of the vision and mission of a primary school. The human capital theory was adopted for this study. The perspective views CPD as a coaching metaphor where leaders are coaches who mentor staff for organizational effectiveness desirous to win as if they were in a game. Just as a coach must plan strategies to mentor players to win the game, school management teams (SMT) need to intertwine CPD strategies of team building to ensure each team player is committed to the game plan to improve learner performance through professional development.

The main research question is, what are school manager’s game plan on the continuous professional development in ICT for educators? The study adopted a qualitative design and utilised an exploratory case study as the design genre. The data were collected at a primary school by means of individual interviews from four members of the SMTs. The data was analysed using thematic approach through content analysis where emergent themes were categorised into clusters for ease of discussion. The findings of this study highlighted the importance of continuous teacher professional development as an element of organizational motivation. The accumulation of skills and knowledge in ICT by educators were viewed as the accumulation of capital with them being the assets of the school. This study concluded that schools should aim at providing strategies not just in ICT use but also in the values of the e-learning technology since today’s learners have become digital natives. The study recommended that SMT’s need to support the development and use of computer-mediated teaching and learning in appropriate and rewarding ways.
