This study paper describes a personalized and flexible innovative learning model based on experiential learning. PrepaTec's Resolutions Prototype for Mexican Organizations, Prometeus (from its initials in Spanish), is an educational innovation that addresses the shortcomings of traditional debate models, such as Model United Nations [MUN] (McIntosh, 2001; Ripley et al., 2009). It favors experiential learning through simulators engaging with social problems at different scopes of analysis and ideating solutions, accordingly, following the Futures Lab pedagogy (Conley et al. 2023). The design and evaluation of the proposed solution is motivated by the frameworks of the UN Futures Lab Network (2023). In May 2025, 30 IB Global Politics HL students designed eight simulators to assess two current global challenges affecting their community: a) deforestation and reforestation, and b) return migration. 80 Middle School students experienced the simulators to generate holistic solutions for real-life applications. The problematization of the challenges and the assessment of solutions were legitimized through collaboration with real-life actors and stakeholders who are currently working to address these challenges: Cíclia and Casa Monarca respectively. Overall, with an approval rating of 91%, 57% of participants reported feelings ‘joy’ and 26% ‘trust’ after finishing the experience. Likewise, statistical differences were observed in the acquisition of formative competences between students who navigated the different challenges, as collaboration was exercised more with those who tackled deforestation, and critical thinking by those who worked on migration. Participants rated Prometeus higher than MUN after experiencing both. This educational innovation expands the literature on experiential learning through social science simulation.
