The increasing digitalization and automatization of the industrial production sectors brings many challenges related to technological progress, but also challenges related to the impact of these advances on the human and social system of the enterprise, which consists of its employees. Accelerating changes in the industrial production sector thus bring with them not only new technological challenges, but also the need for a responsible approach to their implementation in terms of sustainability and social responsibility. Companies that can actively integrate innovation with the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) gain competitive advantages while contributing to the long-term sustainable development of society. Therefore, forming the next generation of industrial engineers cannot be limited to technical knowledge and skills, but must also emphasise the development of their social and ethical responsibility. The requirements placed on industrial engineers currently studying for a new career emphasise that they should not only be technically proficient but also socially aware. This paper presents insights and how CSR and the global goals of the SDGs are influencing the demands on the strategic management of industrial enterprises, especially in the context of digital transformation. The authors analysed the need, possibilities and benefits of integrating these principles directly into the educational process of industrial engineers.
