This article presents a project carried out at a Special Educational Centre, where a series of shortcomings and basic needs among the students have been identified. These issues act as barriers that hinder daily development within the school. The identified needs have been grouped into five key areas: Gender Equality and Coeducation, Emotional Education, Environment, Healthy Habits, and Conflict Management and Education for Peace.

This project addresses the cultural, social, and educational gaps of our students in order to initiate a generational change that will have a long-term positive impact on the neighbourhood's future. Within these five key areas, we have included the necessary actions to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming for a comprehensive transformation of the school. The goal is to achieve educational change and create vital learning opportunities through curriculum-based activities.
To ensure the project's success, it has been essential that all teacher’s lesson plans include transversal elements, addressing issues that, while not part of the specific curriculum for any single subject, are crucial to providing integral and quality education for students.

These transversal elements, without excluding their treatment across all learning areas, have been fostered in a more integrated and realistic way through a series of workshops. These workshops have connected curriculum development with subject-based activities, the key competences for lifelong learning, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

In conclusion, this project has helped students from the neighbourhood see education as an appealing tool for personal growth. It has encouraged them to value the cultural diversity of their community and to engage with the idea of change. We believe that only through this commitment will we be able to achieve real equality in our neighbourhood and among our students. We are developing this project as an innovative action that enhances student participation, access, and learning, supports their long-term goals, and boosts their motivation for lifelong learning—the seed from which true social inclusion through educational inclusion can grow.
