The relevance of the topic under consideration, considering the functional characteristics of relevance, can be substantiated by the following points:
1) The relevance of the research topic and its object, i.e., their significance for addressing the challenges of language adaptation for children with immigrant background, is closely tied to societal issues. People have always moved from one territory to another for various reasons. In the modern world, there is unprecedented movement of people. Migration has taken on a global character, necessitating special attention.
2) Relevance is connected to the necessity of filling gaps in resolving the issue of language adaptation for migrant children.
3) The relevance of the topic is supported by the importance and effectiveness of the selected research methods and approaches, which are given priority in solving the identified problems. Appropriate application of these methods and techniques helps reveal the essence of the topic and testifies to the relevance of our research.
The methods used to investigate the problem include theoretical analysis of psycho-pedagogical literature, synthesis of scientific sources, generalization, and observation. In addition, to study the language adaptation of children with migrant background, the following methods were applied: interviews with parents, initial and interim language diagnostics. The level of proficiency in Russian is determined across four types of speech activity, along with expert surveys, questionnaires, and testing. For children aged 6–9, interviews are conducted instead of testing, and statistical methods of interpretation and analysis of empirical data are used (descriptive statistics, correlation analysis).
Material for studying the problem was derived from examining different approaches to the use and identification of features reflecting the characteristic traits of language adaptation and adaptability of migrant children in scientific and methodological research. Results of interviews with teachers and students who effectively employ strategies for linguistically adapting migrant children during schooling also contributed to the study.
The research has shown that to fully integrate into the society the children with migrant background should be made familiar not only with the language itself but with the cultural traditions and values. he adaptation of children with a migrant background into a new linguistic and educational environment is a multifaceted process that requires a comprehensive and individualized approach. This study highlights the importance of combining diagnostic tools, such as interviews, language proficiency assessments, and expert evaluations, to effectively measure progress and address challenges in language acquisition. By focusing on four key areas of speech activity and employing age-appropriate methods like interviews for younger children, educators can better support their integration. Statistical analysis further underscores the significance of tailored strategies in fostering successful adaptation. Ultimately, creating an inclusive and supportive environment, while leveraging diverse methodologies, ensures that migrant children not only acquire language skills but also thrive academically and socially. This research emphasizes the critical role of collaboration between educators, parents, and specialists in facilitating holistic adaptation and long-term success for these children.
