The aerospace industry, a key driver of global transportation and international connectivity, is facing increasing challenges regarding environmental sustainability. Greenhouse gas emissions, high energy consumption, and intensive use of natural resources have placed the sector at the center of discussions on sustainable development. In this context, it is essential to analyze how environmental issues are addressed in the scientific and technical literature related to aviation.

The aim of this study was to identify the main trends, research approaches, and thematic gaps in the academic production that links the aerospace industry to sustainability. This activity was carried out with Aeronautical Engineering students as part of their training on current and strategic topics for the sector. The methodology was based on the review of specialized literature, using well-known scientific databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, along with technical manuals from international aviation organizations. Keywords related to aviation, sustainability, emissions, innovation, and energy efficiency were used to guide the search.

The collected data was analyzed using the VOSviewer tool, which allowed the creation of term co-occurrence maps, the identification of thematic clusters, and the visualization of how academic interest in sustainability within the aerospace sector has evolved. This bibliometric technique facilitated a structured analysis of a large volume of information.

The results show a growing trend toward the integration of environmental criteria in aeronautical research, with emphasis on alternative fuels, energy efficiency, clean technologies, and emission reduction policies. A stronger connection is also evident between technical studies and international regulatory frameworks such as CORSIA and ICAO's Annex 16. Emerging topics were also identified, including eco-friendly aircraft design, environmental management at airports, and the application of circular economy principles in maintenance and component recycling.

Keywords: Aerospace industry, sustainability, bibliometrics, environmental innovation.
