Storytelling is a powerful and universal tool that has shaped the human experience throughout history. Since the beginning of civilization, it has served not just to tell stories, but to create meaning, connect people, and help individuals navigate the world. In today’s world, storytelling has found a significant role in specialized fields such as medicine, through the concept of Narrative Medicine. This innovative approach arises from the need to move beyond the purely technical and scientific focus of traditional medicine, placing the patient's personal experience at the heart of the care process and enriching it with the integration of individual stories.

As Roland Barthes famously stated, “narrative is present in all times, in all places, in all societies,” underscoring the universal nature of storytelling as a way to express experiences and emotions, organize time, and bring order to chaos. But storytelling is not just a simple recounting of events; it involves interpretation, selection, and construction, transforming reality into a meaningful narrative woven with logic and coherence.

In his essay *The Narrator*, Walter Benjamin highlights the act of narrating as a means of sharing experiences—building a bridge between individuals and making personal experiences collective. Paul Ricoeur further builds on this idea, asserting that through storytelling, humans explore the past, imagine the future, and construct a narrative identity that not only reflects reality but also plays a role in shaping it.

This article aims to explore the potential of narrative in the healthcare context, particularly its impact on training medical practitioners and creating a new care paradigm built on empathy, dialogue, and personalization. Starting with a theoretical analysis of narrative, we will delve into its practical applications, from the tools used in Narrative Medicine to its integration within the broader field of 'medical humanities.'

Our goal is not only to highlight the benefits of storytelling as a tool for care but also to propose a training model that can transform the professional and personal experiences of healthcare workers. By fostering a more human-centered and conscious approach to medicine, we hope to contribute to a future where care is not just about treating a disease, but about seeing and understanding the person behind it.
