Digital competency is a suite of skills that facilitates the judicious, critical, and inventive application of digital technologies, enabling individuals to meet their objectives in education, employment, leisure, and societal engagement.

The cultivation of a digital mindset necessitates a comprehensive understanding of technology's complex and dynamic relationship with social, economic, and cultural factors. This empowers individuals to critically analyse issues, leverage digital tools and networks, and devise innovative solutions to complex problems.

Worldwide, the rapid advancements in generative AI have significantly impacted the social and professional development of neurodivergent postgraduate students. This research study aims to explore how generative AI can address the unique challenges faced by this population and identify inclusive practices that promote equitable career opportunities.

The central research questions are: How does the use of generative AI impact the social and professional development of neurodivergent postgraduate students, and what specific tools and strategies can enhance their career opportunities? The study will focus on examining how generative AI can address the social and communication challenges faced by neurodivergent students in academic networking, and how inclusive practices can be implemented to foster their career development.

The findings of this study will offer a fresh lens through which the impact of generative AI on neurodivergent students is not merely about the adoption of tools, but about a comprehensive culture change. It's about instilling a mindset that is inherently proactive, innovative, and resilient—a mindset that is ingrained during educational development and refined through lifelong learning. By advancing this narrative, we aim to provide neurodivergent students with the human capital and technological support that is not just ready for the future but is capable of crafting it.
