The integration of fourth industrial revolution (4IR) tools in teaching and learning has become a fundamental platform in educational institutions. This study describes purposively selected pre-service teachers’ and their lectures’ perceptions on the integration of 4IR tools for teaching and learning of practical components of technical modules at a selected university in South Africa. The paper engages a qualitative approach through face-to- face interviews with 10 pre-service teachers and 5 lecturers for these modules. The data was manually analyzed, and presented in a narrative format, with some verbatim quotes used for good measure. The findings indicated that although the participants agreed to the benefits of 4IR tools to enhance teaching and learning, challenges such as the lack of access to relevant 4IR resources, equipment and skills hampered the integration of 4IR tools for teaching and learning. Although the university has various initiatives on upskilling lecturers and pre-service teachers in the use of technology for teaching and learning, there is an urgent need to ensure equal access to all relevant 4IR tools for teaching and learning.
