When it comes to shaping the outcomes of students and their success, curriculum design plays a crucial role in higher education. As the world around us is in a constant state of evolution, the educational standards are also undergoing constant change, which means that the curriculum must adjust to the needs of modern society.

The aim of this paper is to explore, through a bibliometric approach, the trends in higher education in terms of curriculum development and its impact on graduates' absorbtion into the labour market. The bibliometric analysis has been conducted using Bibliometrix R and analyses a dataset of articles available on the Web of Science (WoS) database that has been selected on the basis of predefined eligibility criteria to capture the key elements that have shaped curriculum design over the last two decades.

The main purpose of this study is to provide valuable insights and, at the same time, a baseline on how higher education institutions could adjust the curriculum in order to be tailored to the demands of students, employers, and society in order to build a future-proof workforce.
