The Technical Writing Initiative in Graphic Communications (TWIG) is an Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved research project designed to enhance student learning in technical writing and provide instructors with targeted resources. The study aimed to develop a concise, supplemental technical writing resource for Graphic Communications majors and educators. In Round One, over 120 industry professionals and academics evaluated ten core topic areas—terminologies, processes, proposals, reports, abstracts, instructions, documentation, visuals, presentations, and business communications—through a survey that allowed for open-ended feedback. Building on those results, Round Two of the Delphi study emphasized pedagogy by refining the instrument: low-scoring sub-topics were removed, and a new sub-topic measuring Artificial Intelligence as a relevant skill in technical writing was introduced. This streamlined approach enabled a deeper exploration of instructional priorities. All responses were collected anonymously, and findings are shared with stakeholders seeking to promote technical writing competencies in Graphic Communications.
