Literacy has become one of the most used terms, in all fields, when talking about understanding, connection, and representation. The concept of literacy completes the picture created by other terms such as comprehension, fluency, comprehension skills and so on. To be effective in a system, literacy skills are absolutely necessary. Even if we are constantly using technologies such as the telephone, the computer, the tablet, it cannot be said that we have a level of digital skills development that allows us effective use of these devices in the context of the workplace. For to understand the specific training needs of those working in areas where digital is increasingly present, it is necessary to analyze the opinions, attitudes and behaviors of those in such roles professional roles. Interconnected, these components provide a picture of the needs and areas of intervention that can be pursued to enhance the potential professional potential, both individually and collectively.
Teachers at all educational levels need a good development of literacy skills first and foremost in order to be able to "connect" with new generations of learners who are increasingly far from understanding and who resonate less and less with content delivered in classical formats. Searching for information, using online teaching platforms, creating engaging content, and using images and videos all require digital skills that enable literacy engagement.
The method used was the questionnaire survey method. The questionnaire, consisting of 26 questions, was self-administered through Google Forms platform in the year 2024. The questionnaire measured variables such as the need for literacy skills development, interest in attending literacy courses, attitude towards different topics in the field of functional and digital literacy. All the questions analyzed in this report are closed-ended questions and the measurement of responses is nominal, ordinal or interval, depending on the specifics of the questions. Four indicators were used to measure the need for development of digital competences among teachers in the pre-university system: the use of digital platforms/ applications/ tools in school, the perception of the usefulness of integrating digital technology in the educational process, the use of open educational resources, the creation of digital educational resources, and the knowledge of the concept of "blended-learning".
The training program aims to support primary and pre-school teachers in the effective integration of digital tools and technologies in the educational process. Through this program, educators and teachers develop their skills in using digital resources, designing interactive activities and adapting teaching methods to the current needs of children in order to create an innovative learning environment that stimulates creativity and active participation of students, facilitating the development of literacy skills.
