Gamified assessment is an innovative approach to measuring student progress by integrating game elements tailored to different types of motivation. This study explores the possibilities of personalized formative assessment, which not only increases student engagement, but also supports individual development through adaptive mechanisms. Based on self-determination theory and goal-setting theory, four main motivational profiles have been identified: autonomous goal-oriented students, extrinsically motivated students, mixed-motivated students, and low-motivated students.
By combining game mechanics such as progressive levels, challenges, dynamic formative assessment, and adaptive rewards, a personalized model for stimulating learning is proposed. Gamified strategies include differentiated assessment methods that allow students to receive real-time feedback, progress through the learning process through game mechanisms, and develop long-term motivation. Special emphasis is placed on social interaction, elements of competition and cooperation, and opportunities for individual progress. The study is currently undergoing experimental validation and aims to provide practical guidance for effectively integrating gamification into the educational process, seeking to unite game elements with proven pedagogical practices.
The inclusion of game-based formative assessment can help bridge the gap between traditional and modern educational methodologies by offering a dynamic, student-centered approach. This model fosters intrinsic motivation by fostering autonomy, competence, and a sense of belonging, while catering to students who respond better to external stimuli. Furthermore, the integration of adaptive challenges and reward systems ensures that students engage with content at an optimal level of difficulty, preventing both frustration and disengagement.
A crucial component of this approach is the implementation of continuous feedback that encourages students’ self-assessment and self-regulation. By allowing students to track their progress in a structured and interactive way, gamified assessment creates a more transparent and motivating learning environment. The use of digital tools, such as leaderboards, experience points, and achievement badges, further enhances engagement while maintaining pedagogical value.
Ultimately, the study aims to provide educators with a framework for designing assessment models that are aligned with different motivational profiles. By using gamification to support differentiated assessment and personalized learning, this approach attempts to transform the way student progress is monitored and tracked, making learning more engaging, effective, and enjoyable.
