(E)motion is an experiential program based on physical activities and creative dance. Dance and movement bring fun, playfulness, intense perception as well as music interpretation and aesthetic experience. The activities used allow participants to experience different levels of emotion in varying intensities. The blending of individual, pair and group activities develops participants' social skills, self-knowledge and self-confidence and improves their subjective well-being. The content of the program is often challenging for the participants. For this reason, we anticipated an increase in general self-efficacy after completing our program. General self-efficacy are general beliefs in one's ability to respond to and control environmental demands and challenges (Schwarzer, Jerusalem, 2010). The aim of our research was to investigate changes in general self-efficacy in (E)motion participants. The research had an experimental design. The research sample consisted of 79 Slovak university students with a mean age of 21.42 years. We used an adapted GSES Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale. Measuring general self-efficacy before and after the implementation of the (E)motion program showed no differences. The mean values of general self-efficacy before and after program implementation were almost unchanged (mean before: 29.468 and mean after: 29.582). The results are discussed in the context of the experiential program as well as in the context of other research findings regarding general self-efficacy.
