BELIEVE IN CLIMATE CHANGE - DEVELOPMENT OF THE ANALYTICAL COMPETENCES AND CRITICAL THINKING OF YOUTH (CC BELIEVE PROJECT)

The "Believe in Climate Change – Development of Analytical Competences and Critical Thinking of Youth" (CC Believe) project is a 24-month initiative, commencing on December 1, 2023, financed by the Erasmus Plus program. The project is a collaborative effort combining competences of small company form Poland with experience in creating educational games (5Klepek Michał Klepka) and research institution with advanced knowledge on education techniques and climate change from Basque Country (University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea).
The primary objective of the CC Believe project is to develop an educational board game integrated with augmented reality (AR) technology. This game aims to cultivate learning skills, analytical competences, and critical thinking among youth in the domains of environmental protection and climate change. The gameplay is designed to serve as an educational process, addressing issues of misinformation and the spread of false information about climate change in public discourse. The game’s mechanics are structured to enhance players’ abilities to analyse and select credible content.
The project encompasses two main activity packages, one dedicated to develop of the Game Prototype with AR Module and second focused on testing the Game with youths and improvement of the Game. In the whole process there are numerous initiatives that lead to development professional educational digital content, advanced AG-powered mobile application and dedicated CMS tool to combine both elements in one working game with dedicated rules. The first version of the Game will be presented in the paper, as well as the preliminary results of the testing with youths, that will start in April 2025.
