This study explores the use of the teaching competency framework as a valid strategy for teacher training and reflection. The research, which is qualitative in nature, was conducted through a pilot project in four public schools in the Balearic Islands, where an improvement plan based on reflection on the competency framework was implemented.

The results indicate that this approach has been recognized as a valuable tool for teacher professional development. By analyzing and adapting the framework to their specific context, schools have identified areas for improvement and strengthened their pedagogical practices. Participants highlight the framework’s clarity and applicability, as well as its potential to foster a continuous training process based on self-evaluation and educational innovation.

In conclusion, the competency framework provides a solid foundation for teacher education and facilitates reflection and improvement processes in schools. Its structured implementation can enhance professional development and contribute to improving the quality of education.
