This paper presents part of the work developed during the current academic year within an innovation project funded by the Vice-Rectorate for Quality, Teaching Innovation and Undergraduate Studies of the University of Granada.
The project is entitled ‘Assessment strategies with the support of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for teachers and students’ and its general objective is the design, implementation and evaluation of assessment strategies that take into account the use of AI by students and at the same time take advantage of the potential of these tools to optimise assessment processes. Its origins come from the need to improve assessment, developing methodological strategies, having in mind the irruption of AI in the field of Higher Education and the consequences that this entails for assessment activities. This origin is related to an analysis of the teaching within the subjects that the team itself teaches and the demands that are perceived in its environment in relation to the subject of evaluation.
Within the project, after an analysis of the use and perception that students have about AI tools in their learning and considering this information, the design of assessment strategies that promote authentic assessment and assess the real competences of the students is carried out. This point is the focus of the present communication, as one of the activities designed and how the evaluation of the work is developed, emphasising the process and not only assessing the final result, is presented here. The activity consists of the elaboration of a brief video by the students divided into groups on one of the topics or a part of the topic of a subject. For the elaboration of this task they will have to use different types of languages and AI tools and explain the elaboration process. For the assessment, several rubrics have been designed to help students to self-assess their learning process and will be used to implement a peer assessment. The design of the activity and the evaluation strategy that are currently being developed within the project will be the central contents of this paper.
